Quinta do Mondego
The history of Quinta do Mondego began in 1994, when the Fontes da Cunha family acquired the estate with the aim of creating a place for leisure and social gatherings. What started as a family project quickly evolved into a true passion for wine.
In 2003, the first MUNDA Red was produced from Touriga Nacional, marking the beginning of a Dão wine brand that has gained recognition over the years.
Today, with around 70 hectares in Nelas, the vineyards of Quinta do Mondego stretch along the banks of the Mondego River, producing elegant, fresh wines with a unique character. 🍷
- Year: 2022
- Grape Varieties: 40% Touriga Nacional, 35% Tinta Roriz, 10% Jaen, 10% Alfrocheiro, 5% Baga
- Region: Dão DOC
- Winemaking: Destemming followed by gentle crushing. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks for approximately 8 days with several gentle pump-overs per day. Soft pressing at the end of alcoholic fermentation. Malolactic fermentation carried out in stainless steel tanks. Tangential filtration before bottling.
- Tasting Notes: Intense ruby red colour. Aromatically rich with red and black fruits, floral notes, menthol and a hint of minerality. On the palate, it shows good acidity, round tannins and a medium body. Flavours of black fruit are complemented by floral and slightly spicy notes. Elegant and long finish. A highly gastronomic wine with ageing potential.
- Food Pairing: Serve between 16°C and 18°C. Pairs well with red meats, game, poultry and cheeses.
