Quinta do Mondego
The history of Quinta do Mondego began in 1994, when the Fontes da Cunha family acquired the estate with the aim of creating a place for leisure and family gatherings. What started as a family project quickly evolved into a true passion for wine.
In 2003, the first MUNDA Red was created from Touriga Nacional, marking the beginning of a Dão wine brand that has gained recognition over the years.
Today, with around 70 hectares in Nelas, the vineyards of Quinta do Mondego stretch along the banks of the Mondego River, producing elegant, fresh wines with a unique character. 🍷
MUNDA Tinta Roriz 2019 is a single-varietal red wine produced by Quinta do Mondego in the Dão region and is part of the premium MUNDA range. It is an elegant wine that clearly showcases the potential of the Tinta Roriz grape variety (internationally known as Tempranillo).
- Grape Variety: 100% Tinta Roriz
- Region: Dão DOC
- Winemaking: Hand-harvested at optimal ripeness. Gentle crushing and destemming followed by cold maceration for 24 hours. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at 20–22°C with gentle pressing at the end of fermentation. After pressing and settling, the wine is transferred to used 500L French oak barrels for 12 months. Light filtration before bottling.
- Tasting Notes: Ruby colour. Aromas of ripe black fruits such as blackberry and blueberry, combined with hints of pine and forest notes. Vibrant freshness. Smooth, fresh and fruity attack with balsamic nuances. Good volume and structured tannins with a long, balanced finish.
- Food Pairing: Serve between 16°C and 18°C. Pairs well with red meats, game dishes, poultry and cheeses.
